There is now a website for it:

http://store.dead.net/live-shows/europe-72-complete-recordings

It's still blank, but I suppose details will be filled in later. With some astonishment, I'm starting to think it's really true...

In the past their box sets have been only 2-3 shows. It would be sad (but understandable) if the whole tour gets pulled off the Archive (hey, we'll still have the 4/29 AUD!)...it would be even sadder if the shows aren't available to buy individually.
I thought it would make more sense for Rhino to save the E72 shows for future show-by-show releases, rather than selling them all at once in a limited-edition set... But who am I to question their marketing wizards.

Expensive, for sure. But remember what happened with the FW69 set....you could buy this for $500, sell it a year later for $1000...

And, like Cliff, I'm not upset if there really are huge tour-by-tour box sets in the works. If people don't want to buy, they can still get the shows in trades or online, just as they did for years before there was a dead.net or an archive.org.

This might be a bit of a noob question, but how come some of the shows are repeated on the Internet Archive? I've seen about four different versions of the 1972-05-24 show.

Here's the news: looks like $450 for the box. Seems ridiculous.

I like this part of the "info":

" *** [W]e need to hit 3,000 sales before we even go into production. If we don't reach 3,000 by April 1st, the boxed set won't be able to happen. This isn't a gun-to-your-head sales pitch...."

I've ordered the first 2000 but I'm running low on cash. Can I git some hep?

They could break it up , at a later date, which would make sense to me . It is a lot of money, and will be a little unwieldy, but to have it al out is a good thing .
Just what is going to be in the set exactly is still of interest .
I am not super happy with the digipacks that each show will be in, For that much money , I don't want it to be biodegradable !

Digipacks suck for any price its so hard to keep the discs from getting scratched and then the corners rip. Its happened to me a bunch of times just trying to get them out of the pack brand new. I like the purejerry style they seem to last the best and how expensive is the packaging? I would imagine pennies on the dollar.

So it's an opportunity for us to make money too? Sounds great, only some of us want to keep them as collectibles.

The price is one thing, but the fact that its limited edition reslly bums me out. If I can't scrape up the cash in time theres no way I'll be able to afford the copies selling for 2500 bucks on ebay.

A quick sampling of what I and most everyone else who has been around here and the torrent sites the past decade already has would seem to indicate that only :

April 7 Wembley Empire Pool, Wembley

April 11 Newcastle City Hall, Newcastle

April 16 Aarhus University, Aarhus

April 29 Musikhalle, Hamburg!!

May 7 Bickershaw Festival, Wigan

don't already circulate in good quality soundboards.
I like to hear those 5 but not for $450.
